Odisha: schools to be closed for 3 days due to severe heat wave

Bhubaneswar, April 17: In response to the severe heat wave in the state, the Odisha govt. has directed the closure of all schools for three days.

A notification in this regard has been issued by the Department of School and Mass Education. According to the notification, the state govt. has directed to close all the educational institutions including government, government aided and privately –managed schools from April 18th to April 20th

Worth mentioning, the India Meteorological Centre (IMD) has issued a yellow warning due to the heat-wave condition in Odisha. The temple city of Bhubaneswar is sizzling at 33.4°C at 8:30am.

 Further, the Regional Meteorological Center has issued yellow warning for Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi district (34.8°C), Talcher(34.4°C), Balasore (34.4°C), Baripada (33.6°C), Bhubaneswar(33.4°C), Chandali (33.2°C),   Jagatsinghpur (33.2°C), Hirakud (32.8°C), Keonjhar(32.4°C), Jharsuguda(32.4°C), Titlagarh(32°C), Boudh (32°C), and Puri (32°C).

 The IMD regional centre here has advised people to take precautionary measures while going outside during the time between 11 am to 3 pm.
