Odisha announces drought package for farmers

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government today announced drought assistance package for farmers.

As per the announcement, farmers who have suffered crop loss of more than 33 per cent will receive compensation at Rs 6,800 per hectare for non-irrigated land and Rs 13,500 per hectare for irrigated land for a maximum of two hectare per farmer.

At least 233173.8 hectares of crop land in 5,633 villages under 1186 Gram Panchayats (GPs) of 66 blocks and 16 urban local bodies (ULBs) of nine districts have been officially declared drought-affected in Odisha on November 1 by the State Government.

The affected districts are Baragarh, Bolangir, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Sundargarh.
