Bhubaneswar: Odisha is among the top ten performing States in terms of human development index (HDI) improvement and the best performing State in eastern India in the category, reveals a report of the State Bank of India.
As per the reports, Odisha has also secured the third position in terms of Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of Social expenditure at 15.1%. It is also a top performer in terms of improvement in per capita income, due to higher economic growth rate.
The top 10 performing States are, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Punjab, Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Rajasthan, UP, Odisha and MP have seen the largest jump in HDI value among the 25 major States.
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar continue to languish on the HDI front, while others, including Haryana and Himachal, have shown an improvement in the past 27 years, says the report.
