Bhubaneswar, March 20: In a bid to discourage commuters from travelling in the city in the wake of possible outbreak of coronavirus, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to introduce odd even vehicle scheme in the state capital from Saturday. As per a notification by the BMC, public transport vehicles such as buses, taxis and auto-rickshaws having odd registration numbers will ply on odd numbered days while vehicles with even registration numbers will ply on even numbered days. However, there will be no such restrictions for private vehicles, government vehicles and hired vehicles for emergency services. BMC officials said that the restriction is also not applicable for vehicles hired by hospitals used for transportation of doctors and paramedical staffs.    " All other SOPs issued earlier to maintain social distancing and disinfection must be followed scrupulously in all public transport vehicles," said a BMC official.
