Bhubaneswar, April 9: Degrees were presented to post-graduate and under-graduate students of M.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc. (Nursing) students of the SUM Nursing College, faculty of nursing of the SOA Deemed to be University here on Tuesday.
More than 100 students received the certificates from the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amit Banerjee who said it was the nurses who performed the most important role in the health care industry.
“The most important role in health care is of the nursing profession. You interact with the patient as well as the attendants and you are required to oversee the entire treatment,” Prof. Banerjee said.
The Vice-Chancellor also referred to the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) rankings of institutions of higher education announced by the ministry of HRD on Monday saying the SOA Deemed to be University had retained the 24th position it held last year in the university category making it the highest ranked institution among the Deemed to be Universities in the eastern region.
The Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medical sciences, had been ranked 21 in the country which had become the highest ranked medical college in the east.
Dr. Pravati Tripathy, Dean of SNC presided over the programme which was also addressed by Dr. Jyoti Ranjan Das, SOA’s Dean (Students’ Welfare), Ms. Sasmita Das, Associate Dean, SNC and Ms. Tapati Saha, Associate Dean, Training and Placement, SNC.
