Bhubaneswar: There was no relief from the prevailing heatwave conditions as the sweltering heat intensified in most parts of the State today with ten places recording above 40 degree Celsius.

Titliagarh, known as the heat island, continued to be the hottest place at 44.2 degree Celsius for the last couple of days.

Apart from Titilagarh, mercury was recorded above 40 degrees Celsius in nine other places – Sambalpur 43.9 degree Celsius, Hirakud 43.8 degree Celsius, Talcher 43.7 degree Celsius, Jharsuguda 43.5 degree Celsius, Bhubaneswar 37.7 degree Celsius, Cuttack 37.2 degree Celsius, respectively.

Meanwhile, Collectors have been asked by the Government to remain alert and make provisions for drinking water kiosks and other requisite facilities to beat the heat during the summer season.
