No respite from heat-wave as 13 places record above 40 Degrees C

Bhubaneswar: As many as 13 places of Odisha today recorded temperature above 40 degree Celsius.

Sambalpur emerged as hottest place as it recorded maximum 45 degree Celsius followed by Hirakud which witnessed 44.4 degrees C.

Similarly, Jharsuguda sizzled at 44.2 degrees Celsius, Bhubaneswar 40.3 degrees, Cuttack 39.8 degrees.

Sonepur recorded 44 degrees Celcius, Titilagarh 43.4 degrees, Talcher 42.5 degrees, Bolangir 41.8 degrees, Angul 41.7 degrees, Sundergarh 41 degrees, Bhawanipatna 40.6 degrees Celsius.

With soaring mercury, high relative humidity also has thrown life out of gear.

The Met department said high temperature will continue for the next four-five days and advised the people to avoid moving out in the sun, especially between 12 noon and 3 pm. People were advised to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid strenuous activities when outside in the afternoon.
