Nirbhaya case: Supreme Court to hear curative petition on Tuesday

New Delhi, Jan 11: A 5-member division bench of the Supreme Court will hear the curative petition relating to the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case judgement on coming Tuesday ( January 14). The division bench headed by Justice NV Ramanna and consisting of Justice Arun Mishra, Justice RF Nariman, Justice R Bhanumati and Justice Ashok Bhusan will review the case. The Patiala House Court here has issued death warrant of the four convicts in Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case. As per the death warrant, the four convicts will be hanged to death on January 22 morning. However, two convicts Vinay Sharma and Mukesh have taken last resort to escape from the death sentence. The two have filed curative petitions in the Supreme Court on January 9. The court has fixed January 14 the date for the review. Filing curative is the last legal recourse to escape from the punishment. This petition is heard by the judge in the chamber. Earlier, Supreme Court has rejected the review petition filed by another convict Akshay Thakur. Now Vinay Sharma and Mukesh have taken the last resort to escape from the death sentence.
