Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Niranjan Patnaik today slammed Odisha Government’s Biju Yuva Bahini saying taxpayers’ money was being spent for political purposes.
Describing the Biju Yuva Bahini as an effort to create a youth cadre of the BJD, Patnaik wondered why there is no reservation facility if it is a Government scheme.
The State Government has made a provision of Rs 450.49 crore for three years to set up the Biju Yuva Bahini in panchayats and urban local bodies (ULBs).
Youths within the 15-35 years age group are eligible to apply to become volunteers. Women have also been encouraged to apply for the volunteership.
