News7 impact: Jaleswar IIC suspended over alleged link with drug peddler

Bhubaneswar, Aug 15: Odisha DGP Abhay on Saturday suspended Dhaneshwar Sahu, IIC of Jaleswar police station in Balasore district over his alleged involvement with peddlers. It was informed in a tweet from the official handle of DGP Abhay. The order came after a purported audio clip of a telephonic conversation went viral on social media in which a police officer, reported to be Dhaneshwar Sahu, is heard threatening the brother of a brown sugar peddler and demanding money with help of a lawyer. It is alleged that Sahu threatened brother of a drug peddler and demanded money for release of a seized vehicle. Leading Odia news channel News7 was first to air the viral audio clip following which police had launched an investigation into the matter.
