Bhubaneswar: The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Exam (NEET) that had been postponed in the State in the wake of the Cyclone Fani, is being held in the State today.
The NEET was scheduled to be held on May 5 in Odisha, but hundreds of students missed the exam as some trains were running late and many were cancelled in the wake of the Cyclone Fani.
Cyclone Fani made landfall in the morning of May 3 and wreaked havoc in the State. Keeping the students’ interest in mind, the State Government had urged the Ministry of Human Resources Development to postpone the exam.
The NEET was conducted for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses in Indian Medical/Dental Colleges run with the approval of Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, except for the institutions established through an Act of Parliament i.e. AIIMS and JIPMER Puducherry.
