Bhubaneswar: Expressing satisfaction over the preparedness and restoration work of the State Government in tackling cyclone Fani, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Kamal Kishore today said that Centre will provide technical assistance to restore power, telecom and housing sectors in the State.
After making filed visits to the districts affected by the cyclone Fani that hit Odisha on May 3, the NDMA team members led by Kishore today met Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here and assured of requisite technical assistance to tackle the natural disaster more effectively.
The team members visited several villages in Khurda district, Satpada and other villages in Puri district.
“Odisha has done a remarkable job in tackling cyclone Fani. However, a lot needs to be done in restoration of the power sector in affected areas. We assure that Center will provide technical assistance to restore power, telecom and housing sectors in the State,” said Kisore after meeting the Chief Secretary.
Chief Secretary Padhi said that the State Government has asked Centre to ensure that telecom companies continue to maintain seamless services.
“We have also urged Centre to extend more assistance to State through National Cyclone Risk Mitigation Project (NCRMP),” said Padhi.
