Bhubaneswar: After conducting inspection of 50 children’s home, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has submitted a report to the State Government.
The seven-page report highlights religious conversion activities in some shelter homes and also reveals that 28 out of 50 shelter homes lack basic amenities while 21 homes have no security aspects for the boarders.
The NCPCR submitted its report to the Women and Child Development Department highlighting the deficiencies in the shelter homes.
In December, the NCPCR constituted a team to conduct inspection of shelter homes in Odisha in the aftermath of the alleged sexual abuse of minor girls and religious conversion at a shelter home in Dhenkanal district.
The inspections were conducted on the direction of Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi who asked the NCPCR to get all the homes inspected.
