Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: With the Balasore By-poll round the corner, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today addressed an election rally virtual mode.
Addressing to the virtual rally, the BJD supremo said, “Balasore is an important place of Odisha. The state government has established Fakir Mohan University and a new medical college and hospital. There are scopes for the development of Balasore. I wish to further the development of Balasore to the next level.”
“Poor slum-dwellers have been granted land right. Similarly, the rural poor have also been provided with land and pucca houses, irrigation facility, rural road, electricity, safe drinking water. It’s my special focus,” he said.
He further said, “Balasore reminds me of Fakir Mohan Senapati. He is my favourite author. I love most his ‘Rebati’ story. Similarly, I’m reminded of two personalities–Biju Babu and Dr Abdul Kalam.”
Whenever Dr Kalam used to meet the Biju, he (Dr Kalam) persuaded him to establish such a mission so that China could be intimidated. When Biju Babu was Odisha’s Chief Minister in the year of 1993, Prithvi missile was test-fired for the first time from Chandipur. Whenever missiles are test-fired from here, both the famous patriots are remembered. I’m optimistic that India will be a super power in the whole world and Balasore’s name and fame will spread globally.”
He urged the voters to take Covid-19 precautions while going to polling booths to cast their votes.
“You all know that the general election will be held after three years. Lots of development work can be done within the period. Like Bijepur, I’ll myself monitor the development work of Balasore. Special attention will be given to it. I appeal you all to vote in favour of the Biju Janata Dal candidate,” Naveen said.
