Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan today condemned the killing of a BJP worker in Khurda.
“There is no place of violence in democracy. I request the Election Commission to direct police to take stringent action against those involved,” said Patnaik, who happens to be the president of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD).
Union Minister and senior BJP leader Pradhan also condemned the brutal murder of the party worker and demanded immediate arrest of the accused. He also blasted the Khurda SP for not visiting the crime spot which was just 500 meters away from the SP’s residence.
On Sunday night, miscreants gunned down Manguli Jena, a local BJP leader in Khurda. Khurda Assembly segment that comes under Bhubaneswar Loka Sabha seat will go to polls in the third phase on April 23.
Meanwhile, demanding the arrest of the accused, BJP workers are observing Khurda bandh today. The saffron party activists also staged demonstration in front of the Khurda Model police station to put pressure on the police.
