Bhubaneswar: After Congress working president and Jharsuguda MLA Naba Das hinted at joining the BJD ahead of 2019 election, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee president Niranjan Patnaik said Das’s imminent departure from the party will not affect the Congress.
However, he said that he was hurt after someone told him about the matter.
“I was hurt over Naba Das’s indication to join BJD. But it won’t affect Congress at all. There is lack of principle in political leaders these days as they are changing parties for benefits,” said Patnaik.
On Sunday, the Congress veteran created a ripple in political circle by hinting at joining the ruling BJD ahead of 2019 election.
On the sidelines of a public meeting in Samasingha in Jharsuguda, Das said that people of Jharsuguda want him to contest from BJD. “I don’t want to leave Congress. But, my supporters want me to fight the 2019 elections on BJD ticket and I will do what my people want,” he said.
