Bhubaneswar: The much-awaited Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and His siblings, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, will be celebrated in Puri, one of the four Dhaams of the country, today.
According to schedule, Pahandi, a ceremonious ritual in which the deities are brought from the Garbagruha to the Raths, will begin after 9.30 am. After Chherapahmra, (sweeping on Raths by Puri King Gajapati Dibyasingh Deb) and other rituals, pulling of cars will begin at 4 pm.
While Lord Jagannath will be seated on the Nandighosh Rath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra will adore Taladhwaja and Debadalan Rath, respectively.
Today’s Rath Yatra is called Gundicha Yatra of the Jews.
