Bhubaneswar: In view of students securing less marks in Mathematics, Science and English, the State Government on Tuesday announced that duration of classes of the three subjects upto Class IX will be increased from current 45 minutes to 90 minutes (one-and-a-half-hours) every day.
“Reviews of examination results have revealed that most of the unsuccessful students failed in English, Mathematics and Science. Students’ total marks are also mostly impacted by marks secured in these three subjects. The department has decided to give more focus on these subjects. Thus, duration of each of these subjects will be increased to 90 minutes,” said School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash.
The Minister said the department has already sent a directive to heads of all schools to prepare routine so that students up to Class IX do not face any trouble in their studies.
