Monsoon session of Odisha Assembly adjourned one day ahead

Bhubaneswar, October 6: The monsoon session of Odisha assembly was adjourned today one day ahead of its scheduled date of closure. It was scheduled to conclude on October 7. The session was held amidst strict Covid-19 measures. Speaker Dr Surjya Narayan Patro announced adjournment of the session sine die this evening. During the session, the House condoled the death of former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, three sitting members, 10 former minister/ex-members of the legislature and five ex-Indian Army and Police personnel. The House was adjourned two days in respect of the departed soul. There was no Question Hour during the session for the first time in view of Covid-19 pandemic. However, answers to 898 written questions were laid on the table of the assembly.Three adjournment motions were discussed during the session. Seven official bills including the Odisha University (Amendment) Bill were introduced and passed in the House during seven sitting days of the session. Eleven ordinances were laid on the table of the House during session. While 72 papers were laid or re-laid, 14 annual reports laid and 10 committee reports were presented, seven reports of Comptroller and Auditor General were  tabled.
