Bhubaneswar: Finally, the southwest monsoon hit Odisha coast today, informed Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) scientist Mrutyunjay Mohapatra today.
Mohapatra said within the next 72 hours, the entire State will experience rainfall. Initially, southern part of the State like Gajapati, Kandhamal, Boudh, Kalahandi districts will witness severe rainfall today and spread to the rest of the parts of Odisha, subsequently.
He further warned that very to very heavy rainfall will occur in the State till June 23.
Meanwhile, the State Government has advanced the date of reopening of schools to Friday from June 26, as the mercury dipped following the pre-monsoon showers.
