Minor harassment in Puri quarantine centre; CWC lodges case against youth

Puri, May 23: The District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) has filed a case against a youth who had allegedly harassed and misbehaved a minor in a quarantine centre in Goruala village under Brahmagiri block in Puri district.

The Committee has also directed all the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to make necessary arrangements for the protection and care of children at all quarantine centres and sought report within seven days of what steps have been taken.

Similarly, the Sadar Thana IIC has been directed to take necessary steps to protect the child who has been harassed in the centre.

CWC district Chairman Mahabir Rudra Narayan Sahoo, members Ramashankar Patra and Shaktipada Mishra are said to have issued the directive expressing concern over the incident.

The allegation was published in the newspaper on May 19 that a minor girl in a quarantine centre at the Goruala village under Brahmagiri block in Puri district has alleged that she has been harassed and misbehaved with by a youth on May 18 night.
