Minister Ashok Panda in Australia to attend 'Circular Economy' conclave

Bhubaneswar, Feb 8: State science & technology minister Ashok Chandra Panda met minister for environment and water of South Australia David Speirs and apprised him on the requirement and scope of circular economy in the field of renewable energy in Odisha, particularly, roof top solar in the aftermath of the devastating cyclone 'FANI' which struck Odisha last year. The minister has gone on a weeklong tour to Adeliaide in Australia to attend a conclave on 'Circular Economy'. The conclave aims at eliminating waste by reuse, sharing, repair and recycling. As part of the training programme he visited 'Peats-soil and garden supplies' which has pioneered improved value and quality of agricultural produce by applying soil improvement products. He also visited RPA-Recycling Plastic Australia-which recycles plastic in a sustainable, ethical and verifiable manner. The minister also visited APR-Advanced Plastic Recycling-which makes heavy and hard timber alternatives by mixing waste plastic and waste wood byproducts. These timber alternatives can even be used to lay railway trades.
