Maoists, police exchange fire; crusher worker critical

Bhubaneswar: A stone crusher unit employee was critically injured during an exchange of fire between Maoists and police ensued at Silapandi crusher under the Nandapur block in Koraput district in the intervening night of Wednesday and night.

The employee was identified as Prasad Rao. He received five bullets in his leg. He was first rushed to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Korpaut.

According to reports, police intercepted Maoists at the Silapandi crusher unit. While an exchange of fire erupted between them, Prasad was injured in the incident. Maoists managed to flee from the spot.
