Maoists call for poll boycott

Kandhamal: Maoists have asked the locals to boycott upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Kandhamal district today.

Maoists have left banner and leaflets near Sukingia Chhak in Baliguda in Kandhamal district appealing people to boycott upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections starting April 11.

It is learnt that Maoist of Baghuna Divisional Committee of CPI (Maoists) were pasting posters. They have hanged posters and thrown leaflets near Sukingia Chhak appealing the people to boycott the ensuing elections. Locals were terrified to see posters.

The red rebels have been boycotting elections for past many years.

On Monday night, a group of 25 armed Maoists have killed a road construction supervisor in Malkangiri district and also torched three vehicles and an excavator at the site. The incident took place at Kukurkandi village under Mathili police limits.
