Malkangiri, Jan 17: A Maoist camp has been busted in Goegurha-Uttamgurha area under Mudilipada police limits in the district, police said today. Police said that acting on a tip off a police team along with a team of 27 commandos of DVF supported by SOG and BSF conducted an operation on Wednesday evening. “While they were conducting combing and search operation in that area, suddenly unprovoked firing came from CPI (Maoist) side, in retaliation of that our commandos also fired back. But, taking advantage of darkness and jungle terrain, Maoists managed to escape from the spot, leaving behind their belongings and articles,” said a release of the Odisha Police. Police further said that they have intensified combing operation in the area.
