Man who fled Delhi after murder nabbed on return as lockdown eased

New Delhi, June 5: A murder accused who was absconding for almost six months was finally nabbed by Delhi Police after he returned to the national capital as the lockdown was relaxed. "The accused identified as Ajay alias Hariyagullu, who had fled to his home district in Madhya Pradesh after he had murdered a person in Delhi's Bindapur on December 30 last year, was arrested on Thursday from Matiala area in Dwarka district of the national capital," the police said. One countrymade pistol of 0.315 bore along with live ammunition was recovered from the possession of the arrested accused. On December 30, Ajay along with his four associates stabbed one Salman and escaped after the murder. "He had returned after seeing signs of the lockdown ending but he was trapped by the police. His other four associates in the murder have already been arrested," the police said. Narrating Ajay's arrest, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dwarka, Anto Alphanso, said, "We received a tip off that one Ajay, involved in the murder of one Salman on 30.12.19 has been seen in Matiala area. A trap was laid near Shanti Garden, Matiala and the criminal was arrested while in possession of illegal firearm/ammunition." (IANS)
