Bantala, Sept 21: In another incident of man-animal conflict, a man was killed by a wild elephant on spot today morning at Basala under Bantala forest range in Angul district.
The victim has been identified as Bhabagrahi Jena.
Sources said, the incident occurred while the man had gone to attend the nature’s call and the jumbo attacked him. As a result, he sustained grievous injuries and died on the spot.
Being informed, forest officials reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter.
Locals alleged that similar incidents have happened in the past and staged a blockade on Bantala-Mahidharpur road demanding compensation to the next of kin of the deceased. Vehicular movement was disrupted due to the protest.
