Bhubaneswar, Feb 12: Commissionerate police today arrested a imposter for allegedly cheating Rs 1.4 lakh from two people who have set up a stall during Adivasi Mela in the state capital. Police today arrested the accused identified as Laxam Panda, a resident of Ganjam district for the fraud. Police said that the accused impersonated himself as an officer of Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) and asked the stall owner to repay the loan amount on February 2. “The owners of the stall Sahi Paligudia and Damai Nayak believed him to be an official of ITDA and gave him Rs 1.4 lakh. However, both of them later realised that they were duped and subsequently they lodged a police complaint with the Capital police station,” said a police official. Police said that they have recovered cash worth Rs 1.2 lakh from the accused.
