Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Prisons and Correctional Services to start functioning in March

Bhubaneswar, Feb 29: The State Government has decided to set up Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Prisons and Correctional Services in Chhatabar of Khordha district to impart training to personnel belonging to Jails and Correctional Services. Officials in the Home Department said that the academy will come up at an area of 46.7 acres. The existing Odisha Jail Training School, Berhampur will merge with the proposed Academy. Director General of Prisons and Director, Correctional Services Santosh Upadhyay said that the construction of buildings at the proposed academy has been completed. “The academy will function in the month of March. Officials of various ranks working in jails will undergo induction training and refresher training at the academy,” said Upadhyay.
