Mahanta of Gopaljee mutt in Subarnapur rescued within 48 hours of his kidnapping

Subarnapur, June 21: Binika police today rescued the Mahanta of Gopaljee Matha at Sahajbahal in the district who was abducted on Thursday. Police have arrested five persons in this connection. Police said that dispute of mutt property was the motive behind the abduction of the mahanta identified as Tanmaya Nanda Das. “The accused abducted the Mahanta and took him to a nearest forest. Later they took him to a house in Barpali area in Bargarh district. The accused have also assaulted him. We managed to rescue the victim within 48 hours of the crime. The accused have been forwarded to the court,” said a police official.
