Mahanadi row: Odisha, Chhattisgarh officers to meet in Delhi today

Bhubaneswar: Government officers and technical experts from Odisha and Chhattisgarh will meet in Delhi today to find out a solution to the Mahanadi water sharing dispute between the two States during non-monsoon months.

The Mahanadi Water Dispute Tribunal had earlier asked the two states to hold talks and resolve the dispute amicably or else it would hold a judgement during the next hearing on March 9.

According to sources, the Odisha Government will continue seeking release of 1.74 million acre feet (MAF) water in the non-monsoon months.

Notably, a three-judge bench had on February 9 concluded the hearing in the interim application filed y Odisha seeking stay on the operation of barrages in Chhattisgarh and for ensuring minimum flow of 1.74 MAF during non-monsoon months, from November to May.
