Mahanadi bus mishap: Post-mortem ends, bodies sent to native places

Bhubaneswar: Post-mortem of the 10 bodies, who were killed when a private bus carrying more than 60 passengers over turned and fell off the Mahanadi bridge on the outskirts of Cuttack on Tuesday, were conducted at the SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack and sent to their native places.

As many as 47 persons, who were travelling in the ill-fated bus ‘Jagannth’, are still undergoing treatment in the premier medical. At least five of the injured are undergoing treatment in the ICU. The bus was on its way to Cuttack from Talcher in Angul. It fell off the bridge after hitting a buffalo.

All the bodies were kept in a morgue in the SCB on Tuesday.

Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik expressed grief over the mishap and directed speedy rescue of the injured and treatment. He announced ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for each family of the each deceased.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also expressed grief.
