Low pressure to trigger heavy rainfall in Odisha; SRC asks DMs to remain alert

Bhubaneswar, Sep 21: The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has asked Collectors of all districts to remain alert in view of fresh low pressure area developed over northeast Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on September 20.

According to the Met department, a fresh low pressure area has developed on September 20 following which several parts of Odisha will experience heavy to very heavy rainfall.

September 21 to 22 morning

Red Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Bargarh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, and Deogarh districts

Orange warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall in Sonepur, Boudh, Angul, Sundargarh and Keonjhar districts.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall in Mayurbhanj, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur and Dhenkanal districts.

September 22 to 23 morning

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall in Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Sundargarh districts.

Besides, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off Odisha coast, North Bay Of Bengal and adjoining central Bay of Bengal till September 22.
