Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Odisha Legislative Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik on Tuesday wrote a letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik urging him to open the Ratna Bhandar of the Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri and make an inventory of ornaments in the better interest of the shrine and devotees.
The BJP MLA from Bhawanipatna mentioned that the series of events (from missing of keys to finding of keys) occurred last year has left a deep sense of suspicion in the minds of 4.5 crore Odias and crores of Jagannath devotees staying outside worldwide.
“People are concerned about safety of Lord Jagannath’s Ratna Bhandar. Though 15 months have already passed since missing of keys was noticed, the State Government has not taken any step for safety of highly valuable ornaments of the Ratna Bandar,” wrote Naik.
Terming inaction as the most unfortunate, Naik urged the Chief Minister to conduct an audit immediate and reassure that the Lords’ wealth is very safe.
