Bhubaneswar: Leader of Opposition in Odisha State Assembly Pradipta Kumar Naik on Tuesday severely criticized the State Government for happening of another gang-rape incident in the State, this time in Puri, and demanded that the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik resign from his post forthwith.
“In another ghastly incident, a girl was gang-raped in the police colony in Puri. The State Government has completely failed in checking such incidents. A police Constable in involved in the Puri gang-rape case. As he is in the charge of Home Minister, the Chief Minister should take moral responsibility and submit resignation forthwith,” demanded the Leader of Opposition.
Notably, the Kumbharpada police have arrested four persons in the incident. The arrestees include a dismissed police constable, Jitendra Kumar Sethi.
According to reports, the Constable and another person raped her taking turns inside a room at the police colony while two others guarded the door from outside. The victim managed to collect a money purse from the room. The money purse contained the identity card of the constable.
Basing on the proof, the police soon detained Jitendra Kumar Sethi and three others. After interrogation, they were all arrested this morning.
