Lokmanya Tilak Express meets accident in Odisha, no casualty reported

Cuttack, Jan 16: At least eight coaches of Lokmanya Tilak Express derailed at Nirgundi station in the district on Thursday morning. The coaches derailed after the train hit a stationary goods train at the station at around 7 am. No casualties have been reported so far, however over 20 passengers suffered injuries. Condition of five passengers is stated to be critical. The injured have been admitted to Tangi hospital and SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack. East Coast Railway has released two helpline numbers ( 0671 1072 and 0674 1072 ) following the accident. wp:gallery {"ids":[24258]} /wp:gallery But, the accident caused blocking of the railway track the train was running on and five trains were diverted after the collision. Puri-Rourkela Express, Puri-Durg Express, Dhanbad-Rajya Rani Express , Talcher-Puri Express, Bhubaneswar-Mumbai Express were diverted soon after the accident. Both the trains have stranded at the station while alternative arrangements are being made for the passengers, said a railway official. Dense fog cover is attributed to be the cause of the accident.
