Laxmidutta murder case: Bhrugu seeks one-month time for interrogation

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Bhrugu Buxipatra has sought one-month time for his appearance before the Chhatrapur police in connection with the murder of youth BJD leader Laxmidutta Pradhan in 2017, citing health reasons.

Buxipatra was to appear before the investigating officer and Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) today for interrogation.

Earlier, another BJP spokesperson Golak Mohapatra also did not appear at Chhatrapur police station in Ganjam district on February 7 for interrogation and sought one-month time, citing health reasons.

On January 29, Mohapatra and Buxipatra, were served notices by the Chhatrapur police to appear before it on February 7 and 9, respectively for grilling. While Mohapatra had been earlier interrogated by the police on November 1, 2017, Buxipatra has been summoned for the first time in connection with case.

Laxmidutta, who also happened to be a councillor of Chhatrapur Notified Area Council, was brutally murdered in broad daylight on September 16, 2017 by a group of armed miscreants. So far, 19 persons have been arrested in connection with the murder.

Police also arrested two prime accused in the case, Krushna Chandra Nayak and Duryodhan Reddy, from Uttarakhand. Mohapatra was accused of helping the duo accused in fleeing to Uttarakhand.
