Cuttack: The ongoing cease-work stir by the Orissa High Court lawyers will continue till October 30, informed High Court Bar Association secretary Satyabrata Mohanty today.
He said that all the bar associations across the State will burn effigies of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on October 31, informs HC Bar Association secretary, Satyabrata Mohanty.
The lawyers are on the strike over alleged thrashing of a lawyer by the State police during last one and a half months.
Recently, Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan appealed to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to solve the issues of lawyers.
Lawyers have been on a cease-work agitation since August 29 to protest against the alleged police assault on one of their colleagues on August 28 at Nuabazar in Cuttack.
Though the Supreme Court intervened in the matter and asked lawyers to withdraw stir, but the agitating lawyers are yet to relent.
Meanwhile, Crime Branch is probing the case of assault on lawyer on the direction of the apex court.
