Young law graduates, aspiring to make a career in the legal profession, must keep pace with developments in the field of jurisprudence, former Judge of the Orissa High Court, Mr. Justice B.K.Patel said on Saturday.
“Law is an ever evolving system and it is not static. Even the apex court is known to have changed its view on judgments pronounced by it earlier,” Mr. Justice Patel said while addressing graduating students osf the SOA National Institute of Law (SNIL), faculty of legal studies of the SOA Deemed to be University here. Referring to the changes in the society, he said new legal provisions were becoming necessary to address new challenges coming to the fore.
Prof. S.A.K.Azad, Dean of SNIL, presided over the Graduation Day program which was also addressed by Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare). Thirty students of BBA LLB (Hons) and 20 students of LLM received their degrees on the occasion. This caused the judges to go through the details of the case to ensure justice was delivered, he said.
Prof. Azad also spoke on similar lines saying lawyers must keep pace with the changes being made in law and understand the rationale behind it. He advised the graduating students to study the application of law while pointing out that there was no limit to acquiring knowledge.
