Bhubaneswar: Lakhs of devotees have already thronged the Badadanda (Grand Road) in Puri to witness the world famous Rath Yatra of the Trinity, Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra, of the Shreemandir.
The Grand Road is also getting chowder with passing of each minute.
The three majestically decorated Raths, Nandighosh, Taladhwaja and Debadan, already placed in front of Singha Dwar (Lion’s Gate), are now eagerly awaiting their respective Lords.
The Trinity will go on a nine-day sojourn to their aunt’s house Gundicha Temple riding the three chariots. They will return to Shreemandir after completion of the nine-day yatra.
To ensure a smooth conduct of Rath Yatra, more than 155 platoons of armed police personnel, including 1,000 officers of various ranks and 2,400 Home Guards are deployed in and around Puri. Two companies of Rapid Action Force and intelligence officers have been engaged to detect suspicious elements in the crowd.
