Lady advocate suicide mystery to be solved as boyfriend surrenders before court

Bhubaneswar, Jan 28: Boyfriend of deceased lawyer Deepali Priyadarshini Jena surrendered before the district and sessions court here on Tuesday. The accused Bikram Mishra was absconding since death of the woman lawyer on October 20 last year. The Orissa High Court had ordered to surrender before a lower court. Body of a woman was found under mysterious circumstances at her rented accommodation in Indira Colony under Dhauli police limits on October 20 last year. Deepali, a lawyer by profession, was a native of Basudevpur and was staying in the capital with her mother and younger sister. According to police, her marriage was fixed with Bikram and he had visited her on the fateful day. Later, the accused called the victim’s younger sister at about 12 am and informed that she had locked the door from inside and was not opening it. Subsequently, police broke open the door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. Police had launched an investigation into the matter registering an unnatural death case. But, when contacted, Bikram was found untraceable, following which police intensified the probe.
