Labour unrest in Jakhpura; Rita Singh and her mother confined in their hotel room for last two days

Jajpur, 4/12: The agitating workers of Maithan Ispat plant have kept the company chairperson Rita Singh and her mother confined in their hotel room for last two days demanding payment of their outstanding salary of 10 months and pending bonus of two years. Though police has reached the spot, the agitating workers are insistent on their demands and continuing their stir. According to reports, the agitating workers have kept the company chairperson and her mother in their hotel room since yesterday. They said the plant management had not paid them 10 month’s salary and two year’s bonus despite their repeated assurance, forcing them to live in penury. Even an agitating worker attempted self- immolation. However, he was rescued by police. Significantly, Sukinda’s ruling BJD MLA Priti Rajan Ghadei has come out in support of the agitating workers. Kalinga Nagar additional SP is camping at the spot along with police force in view of growing tension. Meanwhile, the plant management has held negotiation with the agitating workers twice in phases. However, the labour unrest has not subsided yet.
