Kochinda Bandh; input subsidy, crop insurance claims demanded

Bhubaneswar: Normal life has been hit in Kochinda subdivision area in Sambalpur district due to a 12-hour bandh underway since 6 am in protest against the “lackadaisical” attitude of the State Government towards farmers.

The dawn-to-dusk agitation called by the Milita Krushak Sangathan has been supported by people of Kuchinda, Jamankira and  Bamra blocks, which are under the Kochinda subdivision.

Famers have demanded early payment of outstanding crop insurance money and input subsidy for the crops lost during drought that hit the subdivision in 2018-19.

Due to bandh, shops, bazaars and Government institutions have remained closed. However, movement of motor vehicle has remained normal. Adequate police personnel have been deployed in the region to ensure that no untoward incident occurs during the bandh.
