Bhubaneswar: Following party’s humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State, senior Congress leader Kanhu Charan Lenka today blasted the State leadership saying the party has turned into a ‘father-son’ party in Odisha.
“Congress has turned into a ‘father-son’ party in Odisha. The committee that was formed to review the poll debacle is itself responsible for party’s poor performance,” alleged Lenka.
He alleged that vested interests of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) chief Niranjan Patnaik and others were responsible for party’s debacle in the State.
“Before the announcement of the election results, OPCC president said that the Congress never spoke about being the main opposition in the Assembly, but would try to do better. Is it appropriate on part of party chief to give such statement when the poll results are yet to be declared,” Lenka wanted to know.
Lenka further alleged the OPCC chief distributed tickets among his favorites.
Both Niranjna and his son were unsuccessfully contested the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections this time.
