Bhubaneswar: The body of Odia mountaineer Kalpana Dash will reach the Biju Pattnaik International Airport here at 9.15pm tonight.
According to reports, the body had reached Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, yesterday and later autopsy was conducted on it in a hospital there.
The body would be brought to Delhi and from there to Bhubaneswar today. While it is expected that the body will reach BPIA at 9.15pm, the Sports Department has arranged a programme to bring the body in a procession from the airport to the Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex for visit of the sportsmen and people.
According to reports, Kalpana’s brother and two Sports Department officials are accompanying the body. The State Government is bearing all expenditur in bringing the body.
After a stay at the Kalinga Stadium, the mortal remains of Dash, popularly known as “Parvata Rani” would be taken to her native village in Dhenkanal district for cremation.
Notably, 50-year-old Kalpana died while climbing down the Everest, which is located in Nepal, on May 23.
