Bhubaneswar: The body of 50-year-old Odia mountaineer Kalpana Dash will reach the Biju Pattnaik International Airport here today.
According to reports, the body had reached New Delhi yesterday. As it was a late arrival, the Air India flight, by which the body had to be brought to Bhubaneswar, left for Bhubaneswar on time and could not bring the body.
Notably, Kalpana’s body had been brought from Everst base camp to Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal, on Friday and later autopsy was conducted on it in a hospital there.
On its arrival in the city airport, the body will be taken in a procession to the Kalinga Stadium Sports Complex for visit of the general public.
After a few hours’ stay at the Kalinga Stadium, the mortal remains of Dash, popularly known as “Parvata Rani”, will be taken to her native village in Dhenkanal district for cremation.
Notably, Kalpana died while climbing down the Everest on May 23.
