Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government’s flagship Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) Yojana can be merged with the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme.
According to sources, the discussion between the State and the Centre has reached the final stage for this purpose.
KALIA Yojana was implemented by the State Government before elections last year to give financial assistance to small, marginal farmers and landless agricultural laborers. Similarly, the PM-KISAN scheme by the Union Government provided income support of Rs.6000 per year to the farmers across the country. In both cases, the fund is directly transferred to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries.
Considering the similarity in both the schemes, the Governments are considering to merge them so that the farmers can get the maximum benefit out of it.
