Bhubaneswar: Union Minister and senior BJP leader Dharmendra Pradhan today described State Government’s KALIA Scholarship scheme as an ‘election gimmick.’

Pradhan took to the twitter to slam the State Government and said the KAILA scholarship scheme was designed to befool the farmers and other backward class (OBC) families.

“It is unfortunate that Naveen Patnaik Government is not providing quota for economically backward sections in OBC general category. Instead of providing them their constitutional right, the Chief Minister is hoodwinking them with KALIA Scholarship,” Pradhan tweeted.

The Union Minister dared the Chief Minister to provide reservation for the quota for economically backward sections in OBC general category both in education institutions and jobs.

With the elections approaching faster, the Chief Minister is trying his best to woo people.

The Union Minister’s response came on a day when the Chief Minister is launching the scholarship programme. Under the scholarship, Odisha Government will bear educational expenses of students for studying in State Government institutions.
