Bhubaneswar: An elephant herd coming from the neighbouring Jharkhand State continued wrecking havoc in Nilgiri area in Balasore district for third consecutive day on Tuesday.
According to reports, a big number of pachyderms entered the Nilgiri jungle three days back. They then went to agriculture fields along many villages and ate paddy crops.
On Tuesday morning, the jumbos entered Hatimunda and Teladihi villages and ate up paddy on acres of land.
Villagers of Hatimunda, Teladihi and other nearby villages are in a state of fear as the Jharkhandi elephants are still moving in the area.
Despite attempts, forest officials have not succeeded in driving away the jumbos, said reports.
