Bhubaneswar: A day before the announcement of Lok Sabha and Assembly results, senior Congress leader and former Minister Jagannath Patnaik today resigned as the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) Coordination Committee convenor alleging loopholes in the party’s election preparation.

The Congress veteran too resigned from the membership of the OPCC Election Committee.

Notably, on April 19, 2018, All India Congress Committee (AICC) in-charge Jitendra Singh had appointed Patnaik as the convenor of OPCC Coordination Committee in a bid to streamline the party organisation ahead of the simultaneous elections.

Meanwhile, OPCC president Niranjan Patnaik said that the party is not hopeful of forming Government in the State though it will win more seats than the last elections in 2014.
